Where is true beauty? I talk to girls from I Peter 3.
Every time we go to the Mall, or open a magazine or watch TV, we see another example of a "hot" woman in a skin-tight, super revealing bathing suit. There are no taboos anymore. It seems like suspender length coverage is quite enough for the world today. What kind of lesson does that send to women? They're going to be forced to perform, to look better, to wear less modest clothes.
Where does God think that true beauty comes from?
Proverbs 31:30: Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

1 Peter 3:1-6: Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
There is something that I find in those verses that can truly give you an amazing outlook on yourself, women. "Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit[...]"
Beauty fades, and charm is deceptive, but a gentle and quiet spirit is a beauty that never fades. For true beauty, you don't need to adorn yourselves in fancy clothes, jewelery or have elaborate hairstyles. These things will fade. It's your quiet spirit that purity and gentleness that can bring men to the Lord.
There are a million messages telling you how you should dress, what you should look like, what you need to do to get a man: you don't need any of that. Fear the Lord, be complete in Him and know your identity in Him - that's when you are the most beautiful.
John shares powerful truths when it comes to the world. We should not love the image that the world has for us. The world will fade - fashions change every day, and what is fashionable and hot now is not going to be in a year. Think of bell-bottoms, mullets, white washed jeans, disco....lots of things that were popular are not anymore. Whoever does the will of God will live forever. Their beauty will be found in the fear of the Lord.
Remember, guys are hormonal. Especially teenage guys. Don't put them into a position where they can stumble:
I know I took this out of context, but I wanted to. Paul was VERY cautious of his ministry - he wanted to make sure that NOTHING that he did pulled people away from Christ and made people doubt his ministry. Don't let your dress or your search for vain beauty make people think that you're searching for ANYTHING but Christ.
Girls: Any guy who makes you feel like you need to dress less modest than you're comfortable with, any society that makes you feel like you're less than beautiful: they're not worth it at all! Follow the Lord, and He'll bring you the right guy for you. You'll never have to worry if you're living for Christ; find commitment in Him and His vision of beauty and a man who is TRULY searching for Christ will come along. Then, your relationship will be built on a mutual search for Christ and a desire to continue growing in Him. This will build a stronger relationship, and a stronger marriage and a better example for your children.
Christ loves you, and you don't need make-up or earthly beauty for that love.

I John 2:15-17: Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
